1. Decide what size stag and what skull cut you wish to have. (Alternatively I can work with your own trophy.)
2. Give me an indication of the theme/idea that you have in mind. I will then go away and search for suitable materials that can be used and will come up with design ideas that will work on a skull.
3. I will send you an email with photos and a description of the design for you to approve. At this point we can tweak ideas together.
4. Agree on your timeline (usually 2 to 4 weeks, but up to 6 weeks for a large full skull red stag.) A photo of the finished piece will be sent to you before shipping.

The process for a cap badge commission involves an initial consultation to determine the exact style of cap badge, and what the background colour will be. Sometimes this is plain, sometimes this requires flag colours etc. In the case of the Kings Own Scottish Borderers, the dreaded red/white dice make an appearance!
When these details have been agreed on, an image of the cap badge is applied to the prepared skull and then I get down to the nitty gritty! The image will first be sanded into the prepared skull and then the time consuming process of painting over and around the badge begins. This involves multiple layers of varnish and paint. Due to the intricate nature of most cap badges (there are a lot of crowns and scrollwork!) this process can take many hours and for this reason the military pieces are priced higher than the website staples. Your finished piece will have the skull cavity filled, a wax stamp of authenticity and a keyhole fixing so that it arrives ready to hang. It will also arrive in bespoke packaging.
